NiziU is a Japanese girl group formed by JYP Entertainment from Korea and Sony Music Entertainment Japan. The group was developed through the reality show, Nizi Project.

The group consists of eight Japanese members and one American-Japanese. They are Mako, Rio, Maya, Riku, Ayaka, Mayuka, Rima, Miihi, and Nina.

NiziU debuted in Japan on December 2, 2020, with the single Step and a Step. The Korean debut was almost 3 years after, in October 2023 with title track, HEARTRIS.

Biography and Fame

JYP Entertainment and Sony Music worked together to create a global Japanese girl group through auditions that were held across Japan, Hawaii, and Los Angeles.

After the show ended, the group was completed with 9 members. The name NiziU came from the Japanese word for rainbow, (虹, niji). It symbolizes each member unique colors in their music.

The group has released various songs, with fan favorites like Take a Picture (2021), Poppin’ Shakin’ (2021), and CLAP CLAP (2022).
