CNBLUE is a South Korean pop-rock band that debuted on August 19, 2009, under FNC Entertainment. The band consists of three members: Yonghwa, Minhyuk, and Jungshin.
The band uniquely debuted first in Japan with the EP Now or Never (2009) and then five months later debuted in their home country.
Their Korean debut song was I’m a Loner (2010), officially released on January 14, 2010, from their EP Bluetory. The song received immediate chart success and first wins on music shows.

Biography and Fame
Before debut, CNBLUE was formed in South Korea by FNC Entertainment, and then the members went to Japan to go through training in 2009. They performed on Japan’s streets and clubs, to polish their musical and performing skills.
The first four members were Yonghwa, Jonghyun, Minhyuk, and Kwangjin. However, the bassist Kwangjin left and was then replaced by Jungshin.
The name ‘CN’ stands for ‘Code Name,’ while ‘BLUE’ represents each member. Jonghyun (Burning), Minhyuk (Lovely), Jungshin (Untouchable), and Yonghwa ( Emotional).
CNBLUE’s Korean debut was a big success, and the band had many opportunities to perform on various events, from festivals to TV music shows. They are also considered very entertaining on variety shows.
The front man, Yonghwa, quickly got acting offers in the first year of their debut. He fell in love with acting, and pursued the career in between the band activities. His role in You’re Beautiful (2009) boosted CNBLUE’s fame and made the band’s name more known.
They have a devoted fandom, called BOICE, from Blue Voice. Throughout the years, the band has made their identity as a pop-rock band, blending catchy pop with rock instrumentals. CNBLUE even became the first Korean band to achieve major international success.
Since their debut, CNBLUE has been releasing hits after hits, such as Intuition (2011), Where You Are (2012), I’m Sorry (2013), Can’t Stop (2014), You’re So Fine (2016), and Killer Joy (2026).
In 2019, member Jonghyun had to leave the band because of personal reasons; however, CNBLUE kept on going as three. In 2020, all three members completed their mandatory military service and have since been releasing good music.
